ULB employees’ Union protest against Govt

Demands regularization

Srinagar, Jan 03: Scores of employees from Jammu and Kashmir Urban Local Bodies Wednesday staged protest against the government for failing to regularize them from past several years.
The employees of Jammu and Kashmir Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum assembled at Pratap Park and marched towards the Press Enclave.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the government, demanding authorities to regularize them at the earliest.

The protesters including Daily Wagers, Consolidated Paid Workers of Municipal Councils/ Committees were protesting under the banner of JK Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum with the support of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC).

The rally was lead by President of the Forum (J&KULBEUF) Manzoor Ahmad Pampori and EJAC Acting President Fayaz Ahmed Shabnum.
The protesters said that the government has ignored them at all fronts, stating that the government has failed to fulfill the assurances and the promises done with them.
The protestors told KNS that they have been serving the department from past several years and they are yet to be regularized.

They alleged that the higher ups of their department are ignoring them for regularization.
“Government should not ignore the hard work and sufferings of need base and casual labours who despite facing hardships have not been regularized from past eight years, which is sheer injustice with us,” Abdul Hameed, a protester said.

The President of the Forum on behalf of CPWs appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh and Finance Minister, Haseeb A Drabu and other higher ups to look into the long pending demand of the CPWs.
Meanwhile, the protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
