Srinagar, Jan 23: Unemployed, tourism degree holder’s Tuesday protested here to press for their demand for framing a Rehbar-e-Sayahat policy for them.

The protesters assembled under the banner of the All JK Unemployed Tourism Professionals Association (AJUTPA) in Partap Park and shouted slogans in favour of their demands.

The protesters said they are almost 400 unemployed youth with degrees ranging from diplomas to PhDs in tourism studies.

They said the government should implement a policy on the pattern of the Rehbar-e-Taleem scheme, to absorb unemployed tourism professionals.

“Tourism is considered the backbone of the state economy. By engaging candidates under Rehbar-e-Sayahat, the experience and expertise of the tourism professionals will take the state’s economy to new heights,” they said.

The association had first put a proposal for the ‘Rehbar-e-Sayahat’ recruitment policy before the then PDP-Congress government in 2008, they added. CNS
