Srinagar, Mar 30: In view of the 109th passing away anniversary of the founder of oldest education institution Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul and Kashmir Valley’s prominent scholar Mirwaiz Alama Rasool Shah several programs were held across the valley to pay him tributes.
The main function was held at Islamia Oriental College Srinagar where a Quran Khawani majlis was organized for late Mirwaiz. Similar functions were also held in different educational institutions run by the Anjuman at Islamabad, Bijbehara, Bota Kadal, Safa Kadal and Rajouri Kadal in which faculty and students participated.
At Islamia Higher Secondary School Rajouri Kadal, the speakers including Anjuman Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim Shah, Principal Dr G.M Khan and other while paying glowing tributes to late Mirwaiz Rasool Shah said he laid the foundation of the Anjuman in 1899 at a time when Kashmiris were suffering under autocratic rule, and by doing so, late Mirwaiz helped the people come out of the spell of ignorance and poverty they were living in. He, later on, took the chain of educational institution to all nook and corners of Kashmir valley.
At historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while recalling the contribution of Mirwaiz Rasool Shah on his anniversary, led a special prayers session in which a large number of devotees participated.
