Hurriyat (G) protests against ‘ill treatment’ of Kashmiri prisoners

Jammu, March 23: The resistance leadership on Friday staged a protest against the “illegal” detention of leadership detained in Tihar jail, saying that prisoners in Tihar are ill-treated and facing inhumane treatment by jail authorities.

“It is an eye opener for the champions of human rights,” a statement issued by Hurriyat Conference (G) to GNS said.

The leaders and activists including Zamrooda Habib, Meraj-u-Din Rabbani, Feroz Ahmed Khan, Umar Adil Dar, Syed Mohammad Shafi, Imtiaz Haider, Khawaja Firdous, Ramiz Raja, Mustafa Sultan, Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, Nisar Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmed Begh, Abdul Ahad Mir, Mohammad Faisal & Imran Ahmed Bhat demanded immediate release and unconditional shifting of all Kashmiri prisoners lodged in various jails of the country back to Kashmir, saying those arrested by NIA are being subjected to political vendetta.

They also sought release of political prisoners languishing in jails for decades and an end to the misuse of the Public Safety Act including those lodged in the Tihar jail after the NIA raids. (GNS)
