Geneva, Mar 25: All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir Chapter Convener Syed Faiz Naqshbandi on the directions of Chairman APHC, Mirwaiz Dr. Umar Farooq held a special interactive session with NGOs and representatives from across the Globe in Geneva currently there to attend the 37th session of UN Human Rights Council and informed them about terrorizing the detainees and prisoners related to Kashmir movement who are in detention under the draconian Public Safety Act and other inhuman laws.
Mr. Naqshbandi informed the representatives about the plight of these detainees and shifting them in violation to norms and rules to the prisons outside Kashmir in order to punish them. Besides depriving them of proper medical and legal aid.
He also informed them about the ill treatment meted out to resistance leaders Shabir Ahmad Shah, Advocate Shahidul Islam, Altaf Ahmed Fantosh, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Mehrajudin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Nayeeem Ahmad Khan, businessman Zahoor Watali and others at Tihar Jail New Delhi. He also apprised them about the continuous detention of Dr. Mohammad Qasim Faktoo, who is under detention for more than 28 years and other Kashmiri leaders. He appealed the participants to mobilize global public opinion about the issue.
He apprised the delegates as how excessive use of force by Indian forces against peaceful protestors has made life in Kashmir very miserable.
In the session Mr. Naqshbandi also raised the need of the immediate appointment of United Nations Special Representative on Jammu and Kashmir and visit of UN fact finding missions to Kashmir on urgent basis.
After the session Mr. Naqshbandi also briefed the International media about the situation.
