KU students, their parents demand varsity to postpone exams scheduled today

Srinagar, March 5: Students of Kashmir University demanded varsity authorities to postpone examinations scheduled on Monday.

A number of students called GNS and said that it would be difficult for them to attend the examination venue amid strike and restrictions (in parts of Srinagar announced by the authorities).

“There are restrictions and shutdown and it will be difficult to reach the venue,” said students.

“Already four civilians have been killed. We are unable to concentrate and it would be difficult for us to write exam also,” they said and urged Kashmir University officials to take the decision as has been taken by the J&K Public Service Commission.

A number of parents also called GNS that there were apprehensions about protests in wake of the high tempers over the Shopian killings.

“We request the authorities to postpone the exams as any untoward can happen to our children.” Nazir Ahmad, a caller whose daughter is appearing in LLB examination, said that no exam was worth life and authorities must take the decision to postpone the exam.

“If any untoward happen to our daughters who will be responsible,” he said. Meanwhile, despite repeated attempts, Controller Examination could not be contacted for the comments. (GNS)
