Slams army for framing civilians as OGW’s
Srinagar, Mar 09: MLA shopian Adv. Mohd Yousuf Bhat has reiterated his demand for the judicial probe in civilian killings at Pahnoo Shopian. While urging for judicial probe, Bhat said, since there are dissenting and contradictory versions coming up as to what happened on that fateful day, the matter needs to be thoroughly probed because people have every right to know the truth and equally government is duty bound to book the culprits and give justice to the bereaved families, who have lost their loved ones.
Shopian is the peace loving and most sentimental district and the government has to be sensitive while dealing with the people of this area. The memories of civilian killings at Ganowpora shopian, a month back were still afresh, the recent civilian killings at Pahnoo has hurt the scars of the people, which were not yet healed and has further alienated the people of this volatile district, He said.
While slamming the army for framing civilians as OGW’s, Bhat said, “It is unfortunate that army frame the civilians as over ground workers (OGW’s) and by doing so they are trying to justify the civilian killings”.
Reiterating his party’s demand for initiating the process of cutting the troop strength from the civilian areas, MLA demanded immediate eviction of the army camp from Pahnoo village in shopian district. He also impressed upon the government that the forces personal responsible for the reprehensible act must be immediately taken to task to restore the shattered public confidence. (KNS)
