Banihal, Mar 15: National Conference District Unit Ramban on Thursday expressed grave concern and anguish over damages caused to several buildings of Village Kundan of Tehisil Khari due to vibrations caused by heavy explosions in the wake of construction of railway tunnel in the area, exposing dwellers to grave risk.
Taking on the spot stock of the damages caused and threat to human lives posed due to dilapidated houses, District President Sajjad Shaheen sought immediate compensation and survey to carry out safety audit of the buildings. He said this has become imperative due to apprehensions of some of the buildings collapsing due to dangerous cracks developed due to vibration. He said these buildings could be vulnerable due to heavy snow or earthquake.
Shaheen asked the administration to depute a team of engineers and revenue officials for survey and review of the situation.
He also sought employment to one member of the family by IRCON International Ltd and its sub-agency AFFCON, engaged in construction of the railway track. He also sought similar consideration by the executing agency engaged in four lanning of NH44, as social responsibility of these companies.
Those who accompanied the District President during his tour included Tehsil incharge Khari Ghulam Hassan Nambardar, Vice Block President Mohd Anwar Naik, Block Youth President Mohd Abbas Naik, Abdul Aziz Naik, Abdul Gafar Gosh, Mohd Rafique and others. (KNS)
