Allege harassment of civilians during nocturnal search and cordon operation
Srinagar, Mar 27: A shutdown is being observed in Tahab village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district against alleged harassment of civilians during nocturnal search and cordon operation.
Residents said that on Monday evening there was a firing incident near a CRPF camp in Tahab village after which a cordon and search operation was launched in the village.
The local residents alleged that during the nocturnal cordon and search some residents were thrashed by forces personnel and window panes of some houses were also smashed by the forces personnel. Some Kashmiri Pandits who reside at Tahab village said that they were also harassed and beaten by army men. One such Pandit said that his son in law who was on visit to them too was not spared.
The locals informed that since early morning of Tuesday villagers hit the streets to protest against the forces action.
The locals demand relocation of joint CRPF and Army camp from the area.
Police officials said that they have stated investigation into the matter. (KNS)
