7 years on, receiving station Nagam Noorabad awaits completion

Paucity of funds delays completion of project: Executive Engineer


Srinagar, Apr 09: Even after passing seven years since the government laid foundation stone on receiving station at Nagam Noorabad in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, the authorities have miserably failed to complete the project.
Sources said that foundation stone for the project amounting Rs 2.5 crore was laid in the years while as the administration had stated that the project will be completed in a year.
However, after passing seven years, the authorities have utterly failed to complete the project, resulting in immense hardships to the villagers.
Sources according to KNS correspondent, Zahoor Andrabi said that the power project was aimed to cater the 40 far flung villages.
“We have been demanding the completion of the project since last six years but the administration doesn’t pay any attention to our grievances,” locals said.
They added that the callousness of government can be understood by the fact that government has failed miserable and has put 40 villages on stake.
They said that the locals generated a land of two kanals for the receiving station.
They appealed the administration to look into the matter and fulfill their demands at an earliest.
Talking to KNS, Executive Engineer, Muzaffar Ahmad said that the completion of the project was delayed due to delay in releasing the funds. “We have so far received and invested Rs one crore but the rest of the amount was not released so far due to which the completion of the project got delayed,” he added.
