9 arrested in Pulwama nocturnal raids


Pulwama, Apr 24: Merely a couple of hours after locals protested against the survey party of army in Muran Village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Combined Forces conducted nocturnal raids and arrested at least 9 youth including a pellet victim.

On Monday, local youth pelted stones on army survey party who retaliated with some warning shots.

Reports said that Government Forces emerged in the village during midnight and arrested 9 youth allegedly involved in stone pelting.

The arrested youth have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Yatoo, Rizwan Ahmad Sheikh, Sheikh Basharat, Amir Hassan, Danissh Ahmed Khan, Showkat Ahmed Mir, Kaiser Mir, Sahil Shah and Muhammad Amir Ahangar.

Reports said that people staged protest against these arrests while a complete shutdown was observed in the area.

Reports added that locals visited police station and demanded the release of youth. Some local youth pelted stones and blocked the road for traffic for some time. (CNS)
