Al-Jawad Sports Academy, 3-day Taekwondo championship at indoor stadium srinagar

SRINAGAR, APRIL 09: Al-Jawad Sports Academy, an organisation that aims to promote sports under the guidance of Islamic principles, organised a 3-day 2018 Taekwondo Championship at Indoor Stadium, Srinagar. The event, which was held from 2nd to 4th April, was attended by hundreds of students of different age groups along with their parents, with around 300 students from various schools participating in the competing events in various weight categories.
Al- Jawad Sports Academy, which is led by 29-year-old Syed Shujaat from Lalbazar area of Srinagar, has organised various events in the past but this was their first such major event. “We want our young boys and girls to achieve excellence at par with international standards while at the same time do so within the guidance of Islam,” Syed Shujaat said at the opening ceremony. He continued to say that “for the first major event we chose Taekwondo because it can be source of discipline, personality development, and self-defence for both boys and girls.”
The event was sponsored by ZeroBridge Fine Dine, and co-sponsored by J&K State Sports Council, Valley Basket, and Amigos. “We have hosted several cultural events in the past, but this our first initiative to try and support sports related activities. We were inspired by the dynamic people involved with Al-Jawad Sports Academy and their core ethos,” Syed Mujtaba Rizvi, CEO of ZeroBridge Fine Dine said at the opening ceremony.

The closing award ceremony was attended by various sports personalities, where MLC Ms. Anjum Fazili was the Chief Guest. The award Ceremony was also attended by Ms Nuzhat Aara, Divisional Officer JK State Sports Council; Mr. Bashir Ahmed, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports; Mr. Mushtaq Zargar, Manager Indoor Stadium among other distinguished individuals.
DPS Budgam won the 1st position, 2nd Position was won by Kashmir Public School Harwan, while Waseem Martial Arts Club Barzulla won the 3rd prize.
Al-Jawad Sports Academy is named after a prominent Islamic Scholar and father of Late Moulvi Iftikhar Ansari.
