Jammu, Apr 10: Congress on Tuesday termed the lawyers’ move of blocking challan against seven accused in rape-and-murder of eight-year-old Asifa Bano as “politically motivated”.
In a statement, Congress state president G A Mir expressed his surprise over such action. “It is a politically motivated move,” said Mir, adding that it is “a conspiracy to achieve something out of this heinous crime”.
He also said that such action of lawyers is “highly unfortunate” and brings bade name to their profession.
“The act of hindering the justice process amounts to endorsement of heinous crimes. Shame on them,” he said.
“When the lawyers representing people in the court indulge in such shameless acts, what would one expect from them? This is obnoxious, the height of shamelessness and unfortunate act on the part of the lawyers,” said Mir. (CNS)
