Traffic mess of Kashmir which was considered to be step ahead of that in Jammu has started to improve. IG Traffic Basant Rath who is in Valley from March has taken onto the roads of City to improve the traffic mess.

It is pertinent to mention that J&K Transport Welfare Association (Kashmir) has threatened to go on strike over tough steps taken by IG Traffic. Prior to this, Basant Rath has faced wide criticism in Jammu over his soft approach towards implementation traffic norms in Srinagar.

Speaking to Gursimran Singh (For UNT), Irshad Bhat, a local resident, said, “I have been living here for 30 years, the traffic mess is so much that we even fear to travel through these roads. But now it feels great that people are following rules. IG Traffic and his team are doing good job. We all should help him in this change process”.
