Srinagar, April 2: International cricketer Irfan Pathan on Monday visited Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and interacted with the students and the teachers of AGS Ziran.
Pathan was recently appointed as Jammu and Kashmir cricket team’s player-cum-mentor.
Army’s Srinagar based defene spokesperson in a statement issued here said that Indian cricket team’s all rounder Irfan Pathan visited Tangmarg and interacted with teachers and students of AGS, Ziran on 01 Apr 2018. The cricketer was given a warm welcome by the exuberant students and an interactive session was organised between the students and the cricketer at Town Hall, Tangmarg.
Irfan Pathan gave a motivational talk to the enthusiastic gathering in which he encouraged the students to take up sports as well as focus on education for a promising future for themselves and also for Kashmir. He was overwhelmed to see the enthusiasm of young budding cricketers of the region, the spokesman said.
“During the interactive session, the students asked various questions and his views on the people of Kashmir Valley. They also asked him about his success story and his success in the field of cricket. Irfan stressed on finding the passion by youngsters and to work hard to pursue it. He also said that there is no substitute for hard work and one should keep working hard to achieve whatever he/she wants in life,” the spokesman said.
As the cricketer comes from a humble family background, his words and his success story has sown the seeds of becoming a famous cricketer in the minds of the children, the spokesman said. (GNS)
