Handwara, April 24: Residents of Rajpora village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against the water scarcity in the village.

Scores of the protestors assembled near main road and blocked the Rajpora – Handwara road for traffic movement for hours.

“We all are facing the immense hardships due to the unhygienic water from past while adding that the residents are forced to drink the unhygienic water of streams,” said protesters resident of Rajpora village area of Handwara.

“The locals of the area said that there is constant threat of disease of this water.”

Block Medical Officer of the area said we have took the water samples and have sent to the lab.

Meanwhile when contacted to AEE PHE Division Handwara he said that they will restore the safe water as soon as possible.
