Ganderbal, Apr 26: Government of Jammu Kashmir Thursday retained the inquiry officer probing the killing of a Kangan youth after he was transferred yesterday.
ADC Ganderbal, Shahnawaz Bukhari is probing the killing of Kangan youth Gowhar Ahmed Rather who was allegedly killed by a policeman. The government has already suspended the accused cop.
Bukhari said that the investigation is in final stage and shortly he will submitted his report to the concerned authorities.
The family of the slain youth Gowhar Ahmad Rather had demanded that Bukhari shouldn’t be transferred until the probe is completed.
“After yesterday’s transfer order of ADC Ganderbal, matter was taken up with higher authorities to retain ADC Shahnawaz Bukhari who is entrusted with magisterial probe in recent death of Kangan youth. Accordingly, directions have been received in the morning from GAD to retain him,” said the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla.
He said that it was part of routine transfers and it had nothing to do with the enquiry and the probe.
“We have already assured that there will be complete transparency in the probe and urged people to cooperate and maintain peace,” he said. (CNS)
