Urges Chief Minister to intervene to ensure repair of transformers
Srinagar, Apr 19: Senior Congress leader Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday today hit out at Power Development Department for failing to address power crisis, saying that due to the damage of transformers in various villages of district Shopian, people were facing hardships in absence of electricity, asking the PDD to repair the transformers, on war footing basis.
He also urged that the Water Supply Scheme Trenz Kharampora which has been completed in 2014 is yet to made functional, as that there was huge corrupting in laying the pipes, as reported and urged that the said scheme must be made functional in the larger interests of people.
In a Statement issued to Press today, Senior Congress Leaders asked the PDD not to hide its’ failure under the garb of Law and order problem and take measures to address power crisis in the village, saying that there were so many transformers damaged at Trenz Kharapora, Watepora, Pehnoo etc, as a result, people especially students were confronted with difficulties.
He said people of the valley especially District Shopian were facing the brunt of failures of the State Govt on all counts, the scarcity of electricity has added more problems to them, which needs to be addressed at right earnest, he said.
Adding that Chief Minister must intervene into the s to resolve the crisis, Senior Congress Leaders urged that the PDD must be made accountable for the delay in repairing the transformers.
He also emphasized that there must be an enquiry into the Trenz Kharampora WSS in order to ascertain the delay in making the Scheme functional. (KNS)
