Srinagar, April 17: Students from Jammu and Kashmir studying in Central University of Karnataka along with some local students in the university held the candle light march for justice to Kathua rape and murder victim.
“We highlighted the core issue like demanding the immediate punishment for the accused, action against the advocates who tried to stop police for filing the charge sheet, the involvement of Police officers in this severe crime and the support of people for the accused with the national flag,” the students told GNS over phone from Karnataka.
In Kathua, an eight-year-old girl disappeared near her house on January 10. A week later, her body was found in the same area.
A Special Investigation Team, formed to probe the incident, has arrested eight people, including two special police officers (SPOs) and a head constable, who was charged with destroying evidence
The charge sheet stated that the girl was gang-raped inside a temple, where she was confined using sedatives. The accused then strangled and hit her on the head twice with a stone. (GNS)
