Bandipora Congress committee pays tributes to Rajiv Gandhi

Srinagar, May 21: The Bandipora Congress committee paid tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 27th death anniversary today &  function was held here in Bandipora that was presided over by General Secretary JKPCC & MLA Bandipora Usman Majid.

    While paying floral tributes MLA Bandipora Usman Majid described Rajiv Gandhi as a Visionary Leader who prepared the country and the youth of the nation for the challenges of the 21st century in the world. He introduced the I.T revolution in the country as a result India has immerged as leader in the field of I.T and Computer in the world and the youth of this country got the maximum jobs opportunities in this field within and outside the country. Today the present government talks of digital India because of Rajiv Gandhi, whom then opposition parties had described as a “Computer Boy”.

                 Usman said that Panchayat Raj in the country and lowering of  age for voting rights from 21styears to 18 years is the result of Rajiv Gandhi’s Vision. He strengthened democracy at the grass root level in the country with greater participation of women, youth, SCs, STs, OBCs and transferred power to the people.

       Several others who paid rich tributes to the leader at the function include District congress committee members, Block presidents of District Bandipora blocks and members from youth congress commitee.
