Says ‘militants didn’t respond positively to our surrender offer’
Srinagar, May 06: Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid has expressed shock and grief over the civilian killings in Shopian and said every effort to persuade the trapped militants to pay heed to the surrender offer didn’t not bear any fruit.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Vaid said “we have been shocked by the killing of civilians in Shopian. Unfortunately the militants trapped in the Shopian village didn’t respond positively to the offers of surrender made to them repeatedly from our side. The militants killed today were active in prompting youth to join militant ranks and hope that with the cracks in this recruitment team of the militants the militant activities will slow down. (KNS)
