Local PHE employees go missing, found working in paddy fields
Srinagar, May 30: Though the government in every nook and corner of the valley is taking pride in reviewing the availability of essentials on daily basis in the holy month of Ramadhan but in Sudergund village of Langate constituency in Kupwara district people don’t have even a drop to quench their thirst at Iftaar time and shockingly the PHE employees are found missing during the day time but found working in their paddy fields.
Locals told KNS that for the last more than two days the water pipes run dry as the main water line is blocked somewhere in the middle but the local PHE employees don’t turn up to clear the blockade in the main pipe. The residents alleged that in the holy month of Ramadhan they have not even a single drop of water to quench their thirst at the Iftaar time and not to speak of finding water available for ablution at prayer times.
Though people of the area repeatedly knocked the doors of PHE sub division office at Handwara but the officers continue to turn a deaf ear to the growing public outcry.
The residents have threatened to block the traffic on the Handwara-Nowgam road if the water supply is not restored immediately. (KNS)
