Srinagar, May 03: Jammu and Kashmir Joint Coordination Committee of Private Schools (JKJCCPS) has condemned the pelting of stones on a school bus in Shopian.
In a statement issued to KNS, President JKJCCPS Showkat Chowdhary said throwing stone on a school going bus is highly unacceptable.
Miscreants hurled stones at a school bus carrying nearly 35 students at Zavoora in Shopian district yesterday morning.
Chowdhary said youth should realize that the students have already suffered due to frequent closure of the schools.
“We have witnessed lesser number of school days this season which is worrisome. The best investment and contribution to the society is providing quality education to the students. Education is everybody’s right, which will take the state to emancipation. No society can afford to close the schools or target the busses carrying students,” said Chowdhary.
He urged the government and also the civil society to expose those elements who have been indulging in such incidents which not only deprive students of the education but also bring bad image to the state.
“Government should keep watch on such elements so that such incident doesn’t recur and ensure the safety of the students,” he said.
JKJCCPC President said safety of the students is with the schools and targeting students will cause lot of damage to the education system.
“Students in the busses are mostly of lower classes and they have nothing to do with any situation. Parents entrust students to the schools from the time of their pick up outside their residences till they reach back home safely in the evening. Such incident will cause lot of worry among parents and school administration and deal blow to the education sector.” (KNS)
