Prolonging Incarceration of Mir Hafizullah, Siraj Ud din Mir, Abdul Rashid Magloo highly condemnable

Srinagar, 13 MAY: incarcerating people for participating in funerals amounts to interference in religious affairs of Muslims. Pro-India stooges who deliver sermons of democracy and tolerance on daily basis should feel some shame on this anti-people policies. Incarceration of Jamat-i-Islami Leader Bashir Ahmad Lone and Tehreek I Hurriyat Leader Muhammad Rafiq Shah Owaisee under PSA and prolonging the incarceration of ailing JKLF leaders Siraj Ud din Mir and Abdul Rashid Magloo detained for similar charges and Hurriyat Leader Mir Hafizullah who is languishing in jails from 2016 highly condemnable.

This was stated by the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik in a press release issued to media today. Terming the arrest of Jamat-I-Islami Leader Bashir Ahmad Lone and Tehreek Hurriyat Leader Muhammad Rafiq Shah Owaisee under PSA that too on charges of participating in funeral prayers of a martyr as most deplorable, JKLF chairman said that earlier Baramullah Police also arrested and booked ailing JKLF deputy chief organizer Siraj Ud din Mir and JKLF district President Baramullah Abdul Rashid Magloo under PSA on the same charges. Stopping people from participating in funeral prayers of dead one and arresting peaceful political activists and leaders for the same actually amounts to a direct interference in religious affairs of Muslims which is highly condemnable, asserted JKLF chairman. These actions of police at the orders of political masters shows the level of frustration rulers are suffering from and is also indicative of their anti-Muslim and anti-Kashmiri attitude, added Yasin Malik. He said that Indian army, forces and police have been mutilating the dead bodies of their victims and using gasoline to burn down properties and houses is also not new, but a ban on participation in funeral prayers and even using black Law PSA to detain those who participate in an obligatory religious affair is adding to the ugliness of Indian democracy practiced in Jammu Kashmir. He said that those pro-India stooges who on daily basis are delivering sermons through print, electronic and social media should feel some shame of these anti-democracy and anti-people acts and should reserve some of their thoughts and condemnations for these inhuman acts too.

While condemning the prolonged incarceration of Hurriyat Leader Mir Hafizullah who from 2016, has been slapped with multiple PSA’s and has been languishing in different jails and police stations, JKLF chairman said that a peaceful political activist is being victimized and tortured for his political belief and activities. Mir Hafizullah was slapped with PSA thrice and high court quashed PSA on him twice and his third PSA was revoked by home department on 16th march and 25th April 2018respectively but instead of respecting the court verdict and their own orders, Police is not releasing him and has been using every deceit in its possession to prolong his incarceration.  After revocation of his latest PSA, he was shifted to Police station Anantnagh (Islamabad) where police has detained him on remand for some new charges. Mir Hafizullah is ailing from multiple ailments. He is diabetic with prostate enlargement problem and lone bread owner to his family which include four small children. JKLF chairman while appealing ICRC and other human rights organizations to take cognizance of his prolonged incarceration and also of the miserable condition of other Kashmiri inmates, JKLF chairman laid emphasis on the early release of Mir Hafizullah and other detunes and said that putting people in jails on false and concocted charges should be stopped and international community should realize and fulfil its obligations towards fellow human beings in Kashmir who are facing the wrath of so-called biggest democracy known as India.
