Kupwara, May 10: Mid Day Meals and Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) held a strong protest demonstration at Kupwara today.
According to Our correspondent Wasim Majnoon Mir, large number of workers from Education Department led by EJAC kupwara , assembled at Exhibition near DC office kupwara during the day here and started protest demonstration. They were carrying banner and placards depicting their demands.
“A large number of women workers cooking Mid Day meals in various Government schools also joined the protest.” They were shouting slogans against the higher authorities in the School Education department and also in support of their demands. “They said these workers were engaged as watermen/ water-women/ chowkidars through Village Education Committee (VECs) and performing duty in Govt schools for the last 15 to 20 years.” They are paid just Rs 25 per month which is a cruel joke with them.
“They are struggling since long but Directors and CEOs concerned have failed to take a decision about their wages.”
