During MCK’s drive, heavy goods and other materials were also seized from the street vendors and shopkeepers who had occupied footpaths and roadsides. A fine was also recovered from the erring street vendors.
According to Our correspondent Wasim Majnoon Mir, a team of MCK enforcement squad led by Tehsildar Kupwara Shabir Ahmad carried the anti-encroachment drive at Jamia Masjid Road, Iqbal Market, Hijaj Market, Faisal Market, Bus stand, Main Chowk and its adjacent areas.
“Strict action under law will be taken against those found guilty of encroaching public spaces. Under rules, we will seize their goods and other article in case they encroach upon footpaths and roads. We will not allow anyone to create hindrance in traffic and pedestrian movement,” Tehsildar Kupwara said.
According to Our correspondent Wasim Majnoon Mir, Tehsildar Kupwara Shabir Ahmad also appealed street vendors to install their stalls at the designated places in town where they can smoothly run their businesses without breaching the rights of commuters and pedestrians.
