Srinagar, May 7: Welcoming the Supreme Court order on Kathua rape-and-murder case, chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on said the decision would go a long way to boost the morale of Jammu and Kashmir police.
“I welcome today’s decision by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the Kathua case. This will go a long way to boost the morale of our @JmuKmrPolice force who in the face of great adversity have left no stone unturned to ensure that the deceased’s family gets justice,” she said on Twitter.
On Monday, the apex court transferred the trial in Kathua rape-and-murder case of an eight-year-old Muslim nomadic girl to Pathankot in Punjab.
Before transferring the case to Pathankot, the court considered several options, including Udhampur, Jammu, Ramban and Sambha.
But except Ramban, other places were not acceptable to victim’s family. Ramban was rejected by the accused saying it is dominated by another community hence not conducive to fair trial. (CNS)
