Special prayers held, religious clerics highlight teachings of Islam
Srinagar, May 02: Shab-e-Barat, the night of forgiveness was observed with religious fervor and enthusiasm across the Valley.
Special prayers were held in Masjid’s shrines and other religious places including historic Jamia Masjid and Hazratbal shrine.
The houses, shrines as well as the local Masjid’s were decorated.
Muslims offered special prayers in Masjids till midnight while as at various places the prayers continued till morning during which clerics delivered sermons and highlighted the teachings of Islam.
The huge gathering of devotees was witnessed in historic Jamia Masjid and Hazratbal shrine.
Besides, similar religious gatherings were witnessed in other districts of the Valley and in Ladakh region.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, G A Mir, various other politicians and Director General of Police (DGP) Shesh Pal Vaid greeted people on the occasion and expressed hope that the auspicious occasion will be harbinger of peace and prosperity for the state.
