Shepherd injured in mine blast near LoC

Poonch, May 6: A 30-year-old shepherd was critically injured today when he accidentally stepped over a landmine near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

Parvez Ahmad son of Manzoor Hussain lost his left foot and sustained multiple splinter injuries in the blast at the Dheri Dabsi near army’s Nanda Post and was admitted to nearby military hospital where from he was referred to district hospital Rajouri for specialized treatment, a police official told GNS.

He said the shepherd was tending his sheep and goats when he stepped over the landmine causing the explosion.

The landmines are laid along the LoC to prevent infiltration of militants from across the border and sometimes these get carried away due to rains. (GNS)
