Chairs De-addiction Programme at GDC
Bandipora, May 28: Highlighting the ill effect of drugs on human health, MLA Bandipora Usmaan Majeed has urged upon the students to work as Ambassadors against drug abuse to curb the menace. He said we should work in cooperative approach to make this district free from drug abuse.
The MLA was addressing the students at HKM Govt Degree College Bandipora during the one day sensitization cum awarness programme on drug abuse. The programme was organized by Indian system of Medicine (ISM), Health Bandipora in collaboration with the said college.
MLA Bandipora Usman Majid also released Rs 5 lacs out of his CDF for purchasing of Eco- Ambulance for the Degree College and also directed the Rural Development Department for the construction of play field on immediate basis.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Khursheed Ahmad Sanaie,SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfiqar Azad, Principal GDC Prof. H.G Mustafa, Nodal Officer ISM Dr Iftikhar, faculty members, Officers and the students participated in the programme.
The DDC on the occasion asked the students not to indulge into such bad practices. He stressed for launching a vigorous compaign against drugs in the district. He said all necessary steps should be taken for proper counselling and rehabilitation of drug victims.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Bandipora assured full support for eradication of social evils including drug abuse in the district. He said that students should adopt positive approach in every aspect of life. Principle of the college stressed upon the students to spread awareness among family members regarding ill impacts of the drugs. He urged them to use time and resources in judicious manner for shaping their future.
The district nodal officer ISM while demonstrating power point presentation said that the department is going to organise such programmes throughout the district in different institutions.
During the programme, professors and students also spoke to the gathering and oath ceremony was also held.
