SRINAGAR, MAY 03: Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of civilian Umar Kumhar, a ninth class student who was killed during clashes with security forces near the encounter site at Turkewangam village of Shopian district.
Reports said that thousand people poured onto streets as the body of a slain boy were lifted the scenes were poignant amid the chanting of pro-freedom slogans, hailing the “martyr.”
An eyewitness said that scores of men and women wept bitterly as the body was being carried towards its final resting place, adding that Umar was laid to rest with his school uniform shirt over his body.
Reports also said that women and children especially his classmates showered toffees and flowers on Umar’s body. (PTK)(PTK)
