Srinagar, May 14: State General secretary of Pradesh Congress Committee & MLA Bandipora Usman Majid on Monday threatned that he along with his people will come on roads to protest if the Govt fails to set up a Degree College and Womens Degree at Ajas and Bandipora area of his Constituency respectively.
He said he approached the CM Mehbooba Mufti and Ex-Education Minister Altaf Bukhari many a times for seeking the establishment of a degree college in ajas tehsil of his constituency.
MLA Bandipora said, Keeping in view the announcement of the establishment of new Government Degree Colleges across the state, I would like to speak on behalf of my people of Ajas Tehsil of District Bandipora and humbly solicit the Government especially Higher Education Minister to establish one Degree College in the area which comes under the “uncovered zone” with regard to the Higher education sector. The Ajas tehsil is highly populated, having a vast area; it deserves and needs a Government Degree College.
However, despite being an educationally uncovered zone, the area is producing competent teachers, professors and lecturers in different fields who wholeheartedly are doing a great job in the education sector.

He said that it is a long pending demand of the people of Bandipora and now Government should look into the matter and should opened Women college as soon as possible so that like other parts of the state female students get their separate college in bandipora.
He said he had made a charter of demands to state government in this connection through various Platforms. He asked the Govt that why they delivered ridiculous promises which played with the sentiments of public if they have not the tendency to act.
