Srinagar, May 3: The joint resistance leadership (JRL) on Thursday slammed the state authorities for “unleashing a reign of terror” and un-proportionate and unjustified use of lethal weapons against innocent civilians, saying the whole valley has been turned into a slaughter house.
The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued to GNS announced that they will hold a press conference at Ahdoos Hotel on Saturday, May 5.
A joint consultation meeting between the three leaders was held at Hyderpora at Geelani’s residence in which they deliberated upon the recent appalling situations in the state, the statement said.
Terming the killing of teenager student Umar Kumar as most unfortunate and deplorable, the leadership said it is deeply grieved over the killings of “un-blossomed flowers”.
Reiterating its pledge, the JRL said, “We are facing unbridled and arrogant power. We will never forget sacrifices rendered by martyrs and are duty bound to carry their mission to its logical conclusion. We will never surrender and will pursue the mission of martyrs despite terror unleashed by brutal authorities. The resistance leadership won’t allow anybody to deceive the nation and bargain against the sacrifices of martyrs.” (GNS)
