Srinagar, Jun 02: In view of the shutdown call given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), authorities on Saturday placed Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention while as Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani continued to remain under house arrest.

The authorities also detained scores of Hurriyat leaders including Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.


Hurriyat leaders informed Kashmir News Service (KNS) that scores of leaders including JKLF chief, Hurriyat (G) chief spokesman, G A Gulzar, senior Hurriyat leaders M Ashraf Laaya and M Yaseen Ataie were detained and lodged at different police stations.
