Srinagar, June 9: Government forces and militants on Saturday evening exchange a brief gunfire in the forest area of Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
A police officer told GNS said that army’s 14 RR cordoned off Raynar forest area today evening following the suspicious movement.
As such the forces launched the cordon, militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them triggering off a brief exchange of gunfire, he said.
The officer said that additional reinforcements of army and SOG were rushed to the area.
The officer said that the operation was so far suspended in wake of darkness. He said that it was not immediately known whether the militants managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness or are trapped in the woods. (GNS)
