25 persons hospitalized, locals up in arms

Pulwama, Jun 29: The locals of Satoora village of South Kashmir’s Tral area of Pulwama district have alleged that the Public Health Engineering (PHE) is supplying contaminated water to their hamlet due to which 25 persons including children had to be hospitalized on Friday.
According to the KNS correspondent, Syed Aijaz, the residents of Satoora village in Tehsil Aripal alleged that they are receiving contaminated water from past several days, thus leaving over two dozen persons including males, females as well as children ailing.
The locals alleged that 25 persons are suffering from diarrhea and vomiting due to the impure water following which they had to be hospitalized today. “The drinking water we are receiving has led to the infectious diseases to the residents here,” they said, urging the authorities to look into the matter at an earliest so that the villagers could heave a sigh of relief.
AEE Tral, Nisar Ahmad Kar told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that they deputed the team there to test the water but the water they are getting is pure.
However, he said that it is the case of food poisoning.
Block medical Officer (BMO) Tral, Dr Bashir Ahmad told KNS that they have sent a team of doctors to the village to treat the patients. “We have sent a team of doctors to the village to treat the patients,” he said. (KNS)
