‘We should follow, propagate teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)’
Srinagar, Jun 09: The aim of the Education is not only teaching learning but also to provide moral education to the students in order to develop the values in them. These views were expressed today by Minister for School Education, Haj, Auqaf and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfiqar Ali during One Day Seerat Conference at GHSS Kothibagh organized by Directorate of School Education Kashmir. He said that Quran is a complete book and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) provide us the best guidance. He added that by following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) we can develop the qualities of true human being. Minister for Education said that after assuming the charge of the Department we have made moral education in the schools mandatory. He stressed upon the fact that the aim of education is to make the students aware about the various aspects of humanity by imparting moral education. Highlighting the importance of mother in our lives he said that we should respect our parents in addition to worship and hard work. He questioned for how children can expect to be in heaven when they do not respect their own parents. The Minister said that besides fasting, offering prayers and reading Quran it is imperative that we understand the real essence of the holy month of Ramadhan and put it into our lives.
During the conference Secretary School Education Farooq Ahmad Shah in his address said that by the grace of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) the humanity achieved great heights and it put an end to the era of ignorance during which the girls were buried alive. He said that it is the need of the hour to propagate the life history and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and to follow them so that one can understand the real essence of humanity. Secretary said that our future lies in the hands of the Head of the Institutions and teachers and they apart from imparting quality Education should also impart moral education to the students. He said that the parents have many expectations from us and we are answerable before Allah and hence we should consider our profession as worship.
At the end of the first session Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo while briefing Minister for Education said that to develop moral values in the students we are imparting moral education to students in all the schools. Thanking the Minister he added that under his guidance the Department is committed to provide quality Education and moral education to the students.
Earlier in his address Minister for School Education announced cash prizes for the winners of Qirat and Naat Competitions and also announced reward for a student of GHSS Kothibagh, ShifaMasood whose magazine namely “Kashmir” was released on the occasion.
During the event Director School Education Jammu Rakesh Kumar Srangal, Joint Directors of School Education Department, many Principals of District Srinagar, teachers and students in large numbers were present.
Qirat Competition was held in the first session, Naat Competition in the second and Debate Competition in the third session of the conference. Later the winners of these competitions were awarded. (KNS)
