Missing youth from South Kashmir joins militancy

Awantipora, June 21: A youth from Hariparigam Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district who had gone missing a couple of days ago has reportedly joined militant ranks.

His photograph carrying assault rifles has gone viral on social media. The youth has been identified as Shakir Ahmed Wani son of Ghulam Muhammad Wani, a resident of Hariparigam Awantipora.

   The 21 year old Shakir is a final year student of BSc Lab Technology. His family had made vehement appeals to him through social media to return to home as his mother was hospitalized shortly after his disappearance.

   “Family has lodged a missing report at police station and we have started investigation,” the official told CNS.
