‘RTI has empowered common man’

Kulgam, Jun 28: With an aim to create awareness about Right to Information Act 2009, a seminar for students, government officials and activists was organized by Tehsil legal services committee/Munsif court D.H.Pora here at Government Degree College D.H.Pora.
Principal Degree college D.H.Pora, SDM Noorabad, President Bar Association D.H.Pora, BMO, ICDS Project Officer, Senior advocates, Lawyers Associated with Bar Association D.H.Pora besides them a huge gathering of Student and teachers were present in the seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, Munsiff D.H.Pora Muzamil Ahmad said that RTI has empowered the common man. The entire range of common man in the system has been empowered by such an initiative in which they have got the full rights to be informed about anything that affects their life directly or indirectly and the responsible bodies have to answer them positively and in present senario RTI Act is now working as a tool in curbing the menace of corruption and helping in developing a transparent and accountable system at all.He also added that act is already in position with efficient delivery position but we need to sensitize all people who are not fully aware about this Act.
He also exhorted particularly on students to make exercise maximum use of this RTI to seek information to transform the society.
President Bar Association Advocate Syed Rouf Geelani Advocate highlighted back ground and functioning of RTI Act 2009 and procedure of filling RTI application and other procedures to seek the information. He appealed students and other participants to use RTI Act positively and effectively to get better results.
On the occasion speakers enlightened the importance of RTI Act in present time in the state in which professors, advocates and students also participated with enthusiasm and elaborated RTI Act 2009.
Later a prize distribution ceremony was held and Munsif Muzamil Ahmad distributed these prices among students to encourage them. (KNS)
