Two cops injured in Srinagar militant attack

Srinagar, June 15: At least two policemen and two civilians were wounded when suspected militants fired upon a police party near SMHS hospital in Kaka Sarai area of Srinagar.

Reports said that the militants opened fire on a police naka party, resulting in injuries to two cops identified as Head Constable Habibullah and Villayat Ahmed. Two civilians also suffered injuries. All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment, said an official adding that the condition of Head Constable is very critical.

The official said that shortly after the incident, area was cordoned off and a manhunt was launched to nab the suspected militants. Reports said that suspected militants managed to escape from the spot after carrying the attack.


Police team headed by SSP Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ismail Parray rushed to spot to assess the situation. He confirmed that two cops and the same number of civilians were wounded in the attack. (CNS)
