Srinagar, Jul 14: An important meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum was held at Central Office Srinagar under the chair of President EJAC, Chairman Teachers Joint Action Committee Abdul Qayoom Wani.
According to a statement issued to KNS, all the participants in the meeting discussed about the preparations and strategy about the peaceful protest March announced by Teachers Joint Action Committee from Sher-i-Kashmir Park to Raj-Bhavan on 17th of July regarding the implementation of 7th pay commission to SSA teachers/head teachers and RMSA Masters and linking of their salaries with state sector.
It was decided that thousands of teachers from all the three regions of the state under the banner of Teachers Joint Action Committee will participate in this mega and historical protest under the leadership of Abdul Qayoom Wani to press for their genuine demands and rights.
All participants assured the Chairman that they will leave no stone unturned to make this programme a historical one and result oriented.
While addressing the gathering Abdul Qayoom Wani said that debarring SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA masters from 7th pay commission is a gross injustice and unacceptable to teaching fraternity.
Wani termed the issue very sensitive and based on just and logic. He said that Government is unnecessarily harassing SSA teachers/head teachers and RMSA masters by debarring them from 7th pay commission. The nation builders are in mental trauma and can no longer believe on hollow assurances because of delay tactics regarding these issues.
President EJAC said that until and unless these issues are resolved, teachers Joint Action Committee will continue its struggle and will not compromise under any circumstances. He reiterated that teachers do not want confrontation neither do they want to waste the precious time of the students but they have been pushed to the wall by violating civil service conduct rules by not implementing 7th pay commission in favour of SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA masters.
Wani urged upon all the state, Provincial, District, Zonal leaders and volunteers of teachers forum to make Sher-i-Kashmir Park chalo programme a grand success.
Chairman TJAC directed the cadres to maintain highest order of discipline during the peaceful protest and obey the directives of leadership. He said that the protest March from Sher-i-Kashmir Park will start on 17th July 2018 at 11.00 am and will proceed peacefully to Raj-Bhavan where a memorandum regarding these issues will be submitted to the His Excellency Governor of the state.
In the meeting all the arrangements were finalised and different Committees were framed to maintain discipline and order in the protest.
The meeting also finalised the arrangements for boarding and lodging for thousands of teachers coming to participate in the programme from far off districts like Jammu, Kathua, Sambha, Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Leh Kargil, Karnah, Keran and Machil.
Abdul Qayoom Wani urged upon His Excellency Governor, N. N Vohra, Advisors to Governor, B. B Vyas, Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie and worthy Chief Secretary, B. V Subramanium for their personal intervention to resolve this sensitive issue at an earliest and issue orders for the implementation of 7th pay commission to SSA teachers, head teachers and RMSA Masters and linking of their salaries with the state sector otherwise Teachers Joint Action Committee will be forced to intensify its protest, the responsibility of which will totally lie on the shoulders of the Government. All the state, provincial leaders, District presidents and Zonal presidents were present in the meeting. (KNS)
