Srinagar, July 16: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Monday said that Kashmir issue poses a threat to world peace and asked UNO and the international community to take measures for the resolution of the dispute.
Welcoming the statement of Pakistan special envoy Sartaj Aziz, Hurriyat (G) in a statement issued to GNS said that UNO had a great role to play in creating a conducive atmosphere and they should impress India to shun its “stubborn attitude” and accept ground reality regarding the long-pending Kashmir issue.
“The prevailing confrontation and tense situations between India and Pakistan is a war-like,” Hurriyat (G) said adding that Kashmir issue poses a threat for world peace and it is proving to be a big obstacle for peace, prosperity and development in the region.
The amalgam while the hailing statement of Sartaj Aziz and his interest in the issue termed it as encouraging. It said war and inconsistencies are no options, instead, they cause devastation and destruction. “Both India and Pakistan are nuclear countries and any flare up can prove extremely detrimental,” it added.
Hurriyat (G) expressed deep shock and grief over the death of nine people in a tragic incident in Reasi.
In a condolence message, Hurriyat (G) prayed for the heavenly abode for deceased and forbearance to the grieved families. (GNS)
