Kupwara: Batergam residents protest demanding whereabouts of missing boy

Srinagar, July 17: Residents of Gulgam village in Batergam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday staged protest after a boy went missing from his native village.

The people were seeking the whereabouts of the missing boy.

Omar Farooq Malik, 8, son of Farooq Ahmad Malik, a class 3rd student of Gulgam went missing after he left home at 4 pm on Monday.

“He didn’t return home till late in the evening,” a protester told GNS. “His family and locals searched him everywhere, but couldn’t trace him.”

The protesters blocked the Kupwara-Tanghdar road demanding the whereabouts of the missing boy.

Police have registered a missing report in this regard, reports said.

“In this connection, a case FIR No. 192/2018 under section 363 RPC has been registered in police station Kupwara and the search to trace out the missing boy has been started,” a police spokesperson said.

“Anybody having any information regarding the missing boy may kindly inform police station Kupwara on contact numbers 7051404914, 7051404915 or PCR Kupwara 7051404938, 01955252451,” the spokesperson said. (GNS)
