Kupwara, July 11: A 20-year-old youth was killed in forces firing at Trehgam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday evening.
According to our correspondent Wasim Majnoon Mir, locals of Trehgam told that army allegedly opened fire after some youth pelted stones at their vehicles.
Khalid Gafar (20) son of Abdul Gafar Malik of Trehgam Kupwara suffered grave injuries and were taken to nearby hospital, they said.
However, Khalid, a shopkeeper by profession succumbed later, they said.
Officer in health department confirmed the death of Khalid.
Soon after the news about the youth’s killing spread, massive protests erupted in Trehgam and adjoining areas which were going on when this report was filed.
Soon after this incident, district administration Kupwara has decided to suspend the classwork tomorrow on 12th july in all schools and colleges of the District Kupwara.
While talking to our special correspondent Wasim Majnoon Mir, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir said that all schools and colleges remained closed for tomorrow on 12 July.
