Jammu, July 12: A 70-year-old man of Rajouri, who tied a knot with a 22-year-old girl last month, was detained by police for “harassing” and “threatening to kill his wife”.
A police officer told GNS that a 70-year-old man Mohar Singh Rajput, son of Soba Singh, married a girl Pushpa Devi, daughter of Chain Singh of Gondali, Panasa, Reasi, at Sunderbani area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Both the parties, however, had made marriage agreement in a local court on 07/06/2018,” he said.
“Few days back, Singh’s wife filed a complaint in the concerned police station that he harassed her and made an attempt to kill her,” the officer said. “This is Singh’s second marriage. He has a son and two daughters from first wife who died few years back. All his children are married.”
The police acted upon the complaint and detained Singh, the officers said, adding, “The girl later refused to continue the marriage and both the parties later approached court where in they entered in final agreement to divorce each other.”
