Srinagar, July 20: MGNREGA Contractual Employees who are holding peaceful protests since July 9, Friday threatened to stir State wide agitation in case government didn’t regularize their services.
Spokesperson, MGNREGA Contractual Employees Association asked government not to compel them to intensify their protest. He said that state level protests will be organized throughout Jammu and Kashmir from July 23.
“Our simple demand is absorption in Rural and Development Department. The government had promised the same for us but it back tracked.” He said.
The Spokesperson alleged that higher ups are using dilly dally tactics and are even pressurizing contractual employees to give up protests. “Those who demand absorption in the department are skilled youth who have given everything to the department. They were involved in all schemes of the department bet it SBM, PMAY, CDF, MPLADS, Convergence etc. During official meetings our work was being hailed but now government is callous towards us,” he said adding that there will be State level protest on July 23 and the biggest demonstration will be held at Press Enclave Srinagar.
