Youth from Pulwama joins LeT, another missing

Srinagar, July 23:  A youth from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district announced on social media his joining of militant ranks and being part of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit.

Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, 26, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, of Pulwama’s Koil village has reportedly joined militancy. His picture brandishing with a rifle has gone viral on social media.

His code name, as per the picture, is Abu Turab, having qualification MBA. He was missing from July 22. The family on next day filed a missing report with the concerned police station.

Wani, according to family, was pursuing MA in English through IGNOU.

Meanwhile, one more youth namely Muzamil Nazeer Bhat, 18, an 11th class student, has also gone missing since July 22.

The family of Bhat, a resident of Prichoo village in Pulwama, has filed a missing report with the concerned police station.

SSP Pulwama told GNS that police have received information about the missing of two youths, and a report in both the cases has also been filed. Further investigations into it have been launched, he added.

Regarding Wani’s picture going viral on social media, the SSP said, “There are possibilities that the youth may have joined the militant ranks, however, the investigations into the case is underway.” (GNS)
