J&K Pradesh Congress Committee delegation meets Governor

Srinagar, August 31: A delegation of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee led by its President Sh. G.A Mir, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The members of  the delegation extended their warm greetings to Governor on his being appointed as Governor of J&K and expressed confidence that his tenure will be instrumental in bringing about peace and development in the State.

The delegation appreciated the decision by Governor’s administration of holding early polls to the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats and extended their cooperation and support to the elections.

The delegation expressed concern over the legal challenge to Article 35 A of the Indian Constitution; requested for expediting regularisation of casual labourers in govt. sector; strengthening institutions of Anganwari and ASHA workers; early resolution of issues of SSA teachers, problems being faced by Kashmiri migrants and adequate security cover to their leaders etc.

Governor observed that all their issues will be given due consideration. He assured that elections to Panchayats and Urban Local Bodies will be conducted in a free and fair manner and urged the delegation to spread awareness among people regarding benefits of electing representatives in these decentralised democratic institutions for the overall empowerment of the people in deciding and implementing the development of their towns and villages. He informed the delegation that very soon, he will be visiting different districts in the State to meet public representatives and take stock of developmental activities.

The delegation comprised Sh. Peerzada Mohd. Sayed; Sh. Ghulam Nabi Monga; Sh. Mohd. Anwar  Bhat; Sh. Mohd. Amin Bhat, Sh. Farooq Andrabi; Sh. Raman Matoo and Sh. Surinder Singh Channi.
