Baramulla 15 Aug: Rafiabad Army celebrated 72nd Independence Day with gaiety and fervour in Sialkot and Tragpora Rafiabad of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on wednesday.
Army officials along with police officials and civilians hoisted the national flag at a colourful ceremony in Rafiabad.
Army distributed Books,Sweets and Cricket kits among Students and local boys of the area.
Police officials and senior citizens of the area were also felicitated for their notable services and Sewing machines were also distributed among poor women and widows of the area.
Ex Service men, wives of Kargil martyrs, sarpanchs and ward members along with other respectables of the society took part in the celebrations.
Honouring with prizes to students and distribution of other items to poor masses of the area marked the Independence Day celebrations in Rafiabad on wednesday.Students of various schools took part in the painting competition. A large number of people, officials and others witnessed the event.
Towards the end, the Army officials briefed the Senior citizens,boys and students on the latest benefits extended by the government and Indian Army and thanked them for their co-operation and participation.
Locals who participated in the Celebrations while talking to Kashmir News Bureau welcomed the friendly gesture of Army and told that honouring and felicitating students and locals will make the relation strong between Army and local people they also thanked Army for their contribution to uplift the widows and the under-privileged of the Rafiabad area.(KNB)
