Blast disease hits paddy crops in Tral villages

TRAL, SEP 02: The farmers in many areas of Tral sub district in Pulwama have complained of destruction of their paddy fields due to blast disease.

The farmers said that they are worried and have asked for departmental intervention to offset the losses to their crops.

The disease has hit the crops in Nahir, Khasipora and Chatrogam areas of Tral, leaving the farmers dismayed.

A farmer talking to this reporter said they have suffered losses due to paddy blast diseases.

“We suffered losses due to blast disease in paddy fields. We are very much worried as it will reduce rice production in the area this year,” he said.

The farmers appealed concerned authorities to personally intervene into the matter.

Despite several attempts officials of agriculture department couldn’t be contacted.
